Two Factor Authentication (2FA) login

  • As an additional security measure & to comply with Exchange circular, we have introduced Two Factor Authentication (2FA) login for your ICICI direct account with effect from 27th September 2022.
  • Along with User ID and Password / PIN you will be required to enter OTP (One Time Password) during login.
  • OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number as well as email id at the time of login.

 

Note: We request you to update your mobile number and email id to avoid any inconvenience caused during login.

 

 

QR Based Login (recommended)

If you are logged in to your ICICIdirect Account on mobile App, you can login instantly to your account on Web platform just by scanning the QR that is available on web login page. You need to visit menu section on mobile app and search for “Scan for Web Login”.

1. What is 2FA?

2FA stands for 2 Factor Authentication for login that ensures below 2 input factors are considered before you are logged in to your account.

a)   Knowledge Factor (only the user knows) – Password / Pin

b)   Possession Factor (only the user has) – OTP

This ensures your account is safe & secure.

2. What is PIN?

  • PIN is a 6-digit numeric code which is also referred to as “Access code” on our mobile apps
  • With this new change “PIN” can also be used instead of password to login on any of our platforms.

3. How to create PIN?

If you haven’t created a PIN, you will get a prompt to create PIN during the login process.

You may use this PIN instead of Password to complete login once your PIN (or Access Code) has been set up.

4. If you have multiple accounts with same mobile number / email id registered in them, then will you receive Login OTP?

You will be able to receive OTP on registered mobile no. as well as email ID irrespective of your relationship status. i.e. If you have updated mobile number as spouse, then also you will receive OTP in your mobile number.

5. What happens if you keep screen inactive for 1 hour?

Inactivity of 1 hour will ask for entering password / PIN and you will be able to reactivate session. OTP will not be required in such cases.

6. When you close the browser without logging out of ICICIdirect A/C, then will OTP be required for subsequent login for website?

If you have closed the browser without clicking on logout, then you will be able to login only through Password / PIN for that day. OTP will not be required.

7. What happens when you click on logout and then again try to make login to website on same day?

If logged-out of your account, then you need to follow entire 2FA login process where you need to enter OTP also.

8. What is the validity of OTP?

OTP is valid for 5 minutes

9. If you have same mobile number updated in your account, then that one OTP is valid for all accounts or not?

No. For each account login, you will receive fresh OTP on your mobile no. and email ID.

10. How many OTP can be generated?

There is no limit for OTP generation. However, if user generates OTP consecutively 10 times without using it, then trading account will get locked for security reasons.

11. What happens if you enter wrong OTP?

If you enter 10 incorrect OTP consecutively then your account will be locked for security reasons.

12. Is this OTP based login process applicable for mobile app also?

Yes, during first time login OTP will be triggered to registered mobile no. as well as email ID. User will have to validate this OTP to login. OTP will be required even when user clicks on Switch User and initiate a login.

For all subsequent / repeat login, OTP will not be required and you will able to login either by using Biometrics or Password / PIN.

13. How QR code login works?

QR code will make login to Web platform faster just by scanning the QR displayed using ICICIdirect Mobile Apps. 

Please find below steps:

      a)   Customer needs to login to mobile app first

      b)   Visit Menu Section where “Scan for Web Login” is available

      c)    You need to scan the QR code which is reflecting in the web platform

      d)    On successful scanning of QR, you will be logged in to web platform.

Note: Make sure you have updated to the latest version of our Apps in order to avail this facility.

14. Why we need to implement this change?

It is a regulatory requirement that will provide additional security to customer’s account. This change in login process is expected to go live for customers from 27th September, 2022.
