MUTUAL FUND INFLOWS INCREASE IN OCTOBER

Indian equity mutual funds witnessed a jump in inflows during October 2024, buoyed by increased investor confidence across various fund categories.

According to data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), total equity mutual fund inflows rose by 21.7% to Rs 41,886.69 crore in October, compared to Rs 34,419.26 crore in the previous month.

Large-cap funds saw inflows more than double, rising to Rs 3,452.34 crore from Rs 1,769.42 crore in the previous month. Mid-cap funds recorded an inflow of Rs 4,682.90 crore, up from Rs 3,130.42 crore in September. Small cap funds attracted Rs 3,772 crore, increasing from Rs 3,071 crore last month. Sectoral and thematic funds saw a slight dip, drawing in Rs 12,278.8 crore compared to Rs 13,255 crore in September.

In tax-saving options, Equity Linked Savings Schemes (ELSS) returned to net inflows, with investments totaling Rs 383.36 crore in October after a previous month`s outflow of Rs 348.80 crore.

Inflows in hybrid funds reached Rs 16,863.30 crore, up from just Rs 4,901 crore the previous month.

Fixed income categories saw notable movements, with liquid funds rebounding to record inflows of Rs 83,863.3 crore, a reversal from the previous month�s large outflow of Rs 72,666 crore. Credit risk funds continued to experience outflows, although these were slightly reduced to Rs 357.8 crore, down from Rs 484 crore in September. Corporate bond funds maintained steady inflows, collecting Rs 4,644.40 crore compared to Rs 5,039 crore the prior month.

The inflow into Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) reached Rs 13,441.82 crore from just Rs 381 crore in September. Index funds saw inflows of Rs 7,931.01 crore as against an inflow of Rs 1,960.29 in September. Gold ETFs witnessed net investments of Rs 1,961.57 crore compared with an inflow of Rs 1,232.99 crore in the previous month.

Inflows into New Fund Offers (NFOs) fell sharply to Rs 6,078 crore, down from Rs 14,575 crore in September.

Overall, the total assets under management (AUM) across mutual funds increased slightly to Rs 67,25,614.61 crore in October, up from Rs 67,09,259.24 crore in September.
