DRDO, INDIAN ARMY SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE SIX FLIGHT TESTS OF QRSAM
BDL - 1050 Change: -26.80 (-2.49 %)News: DRDO and Indian Army have successfully completed six flight-tests of quick reaction surface to air missile (QRSAM) system from the Odisha coast. The flight tests, conducted as part of evaluation trials by the Indian Army, were carried out against high-speed aerial targets mimicking various types of threats to evaluate the capability of the weapon systems under different scenarios. During these tests, all the mission objectives were met establishing pinpoint accuracy of the weapon systems with state-of-the-art guidance and control algorithms including warhead chain.
View: QRSAM has been developed by DRDO in association with Bharat Dynamics (BDL) and Bharat Electronics (BEL) with both firms participating in development and manufacturing. We believe the contract will be placed with BDL and BEL in the near to medium term as these tests were conducted successfully in the final deployment configuration, consisting of all indigenously-developed sub-systems (including the missile with indigenous radio frequency seeker, mobile launcher, fully automated command and control system, surveillance and multi-function radars). BEL expects the manufacturing order for QRSAM sub-systems to be placed in FY24E (value worth Rs 20000 crore for BEL).
Impact: Positive.
