GOVERNMENT ADDS NEW COMPANIES IN SECOND ROUND OF WHITE GOODS PRODUCTION LINKED INCENTIVE SCHEMES
News: The government has selected 15 new companies for the second round of white goods PLI (AC/LED lights) PLI with committed investment of Rs 1368 crore.
Views: In the second round, ~15 companies have received PLI approvals for white goods. The key players under the AC PLI include LG Electronics, Mitsubishi Electric, Adani Copper Tube, etc. Under the LED category, key players are Jindal Polyfilms, Wipro Ltd and Crompton Greaves Consumer Electrical. Combining first and second round of selections, altogether 61 companies (32 for AC PLI and 29 for LED lights PLI) have received white goods PLI approval. These companies are expected to bring investments in component manufacturing eco-system of ACs and LED lights industry to the tune of Rs 6632 crore. The scheme is expected to lead to total production of component of ACs and LED lights of about Rs 1.2 lakh crore over five years.
Impact: Neutral
