MOBILE PHONE EXPORTS CLOCK US$4.2 BN MARK IN APRIL-SEPTEMBER 2022
News:
Mobile phone export from India doubled to US$ 4.2 billion (bn) (~Rs 34,000 crore) in April-September 2022. The significant pie (~70-80%) of this export is contributed by global majors Apple and Samsung.

India’s total production of mobile phone has tripled in the last three years to ~ Rs 2.75 lakh crore. The export share of the total production also increased significantly from 1% in FY17 to 16% by the end of FY22. Strong growth in exports of mobile phones is attributable to the government’s production linked incentive scheme launched in 2020 that led to commencement of manufacturing plants in India by leading global MNCs. The government is aiming at ~Rs 5 lakh crore worth of mobile export from India by FY26. under PLI, Dixon Technology was the only domestic contract manufacturer to claim the PLI benefit.
