Originally, the power generation division was a part of Bharat Forge and the Financial Services division but was later demerged into BF Utilities to improve operational efficiencies and focus better on core activities. BF Utilities has a capacity of 18.33 MW per annum at the Thoseghar plant. BF Utilities uses state-of-art technology in their machines provided by Enercon India Ltd, which operates a unique concept of gearless generators, giving them an advantage over other technologies used in turbines around the county. The promoters of the company currently hold 55.99% of the stake in the company, while the Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) and Domestic Institutional Investors (DII) hold 0.28% and 0.09% of the stake, respectively and the balance 13.09%, is owned by others (retail investors).
