Quick Wrap: Nifty Auto Index rises 1.14%

Nifty Auto index closed up 1.14% at 18618.2 today. The index is up 6.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd gained 4.40%, Ashok Leyland Ltd added 3.57% and Tata Motors Ltd rose 3.46%. The Nifty Auto index is up 47.00% over last one year compared to the 19.46% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty MNC index added 1.05% and Nifty FMCG index gained 0.85% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 has dropped 0.22% to close at 21731.4 while the SENSEX is down 0.23% to close at 72240.26 today.
